Who we are

Aurelia Byron (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a privately owned, short-term accommodation residence located at Unit 104, 137–139 Jonson Street, Byron Bay NSW 2481. We are exclusively represented for bookings by Beach Houses of Byron (“BHOB”).

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with: our informational website and direct enquiries (email/phone/social) managed by Aurelia Byron; and reservations, payments, cancellations and guest communications managed by Beach Houses of Byron as our booking agent.

We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

How bookings are handled & whose policy applies

All reservations, guest profiles, payments and cancellations are handled by Beach Houses of Byron. When you book or pay, you provide your personal information to BHOB and it is handled under BHOB’s Privacy Policy. Aurelia Byron receives selected booking information from BHOB (e.g., guest name, stay dates, contact details, special requests) so we can prepare your stay and uphold house rules. Where there is any inconsistency about the handling of booking/payment data, BHOB’s Privacy Policy prevails. What we collect (Aurelia Byron)

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Contact details: name, email, phone (e.g., if you email us or use a contact form).
• Booking metadata (shared from BHOB): guest name, stay dates, number of guests, verified status, requests.
• Communications: emails, messages, feedback/reviews you provide to us.
• Website data: IP address, device/browser info, pages viewed, and cookie/analytics data (see Cookies & Analytics).
• We do not collect or store full payment card details on our site. Payments are handled by BHOB and/or their payment service providers in accordance with their policies.

We collect and use personal information to:

• provide, prepare and manage your accommodation and guest services;
• enforce house rules, building by-laws and safety obligations;
• respond to enquiries, support requests and feedback;
• maintain website security and performance; and
• (with your consent where required) send service emails or occasional updates about Aurelia Byron.

How we share information

We may share personal information with:

• Service providers strictly as needed (e.g., GoDaddy for hosting; email delivery; IT/security; photography; trades for maintenance);
• Building management / security when reasonably necessary to uphold by-laws, quiet-hours and safety;
• Regulators/insurers/law enforcement where required by law or to protect our rights, property, guests or neighbours.
• We do not sell your personal information.

Hosting & international transfers

Our website is hosted by GoDaddy. This may involve processing and storage on servers located outside Australia (e.g., the United States or other regions where GoDaddy operates). We take reasonable steps to ensure any overseas recipients protect personal information in a manner consistent with the APPs.

Cookies & analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences and understand aggregate usage (e.g., page views, device types). You can block or delete cookies in your browser, though some features may not work as intended. If we use third-party analytics, those providers may process pseudonymous device data to help us improve the site.

Direct marketing

We only send marketing communications where permitted by law (e.g., with your consent or a clear opt-in). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in our emails or by contacting us.

This includes limiting access to systems on a need-to-know basis, using reputable hosting/security services, and training operators on privacy and data handling. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please contact us if you suspect any security issue.

Access & correction

You may request access to or correction of the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity. If your request relates to booking or payment records, we may direct you to Beach Houses of Byron, who control those systems and can action access/corrections consistently with their policy.

Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out above (including record-keeping, safety or legal obligations), after which we take reasonable steps to de-identify or destroy it. Booking and payment records are retained under BHOB’s schedules and applicable laws.

Children

Our accommodation is intended for guests aged 18+ as primary bookers. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without parental/guardian involvement.

Third-party links
